Front runners want the authorities as a partner
11 December 2006 - Of all innovative companies in the Netherlands, only a few are ahead in the field of sustainability: the Front runners. They are assisted by the government via the so-called Front runner counter, which is part of the IPE energy transition management. This counter has resulted in a new type of collaboration between entrepreneurs and authorities. The Dutch Undersecretary for Economic Affairs, Mrs. Karien van Gennep has spoken concisely and to the point with the Front runners in the scope of the 'Innovative Netherlands' fair. This conversation took place in the clean, low-energy 'Fluisterbus', developed by one of the Leaders: E-traction.
The Front runner counter will expand and will help an increasing number of companies to overcome social problems with the authorities as a sustainable partner. Examples include improving air quality and reducing CO2 emissions. Consequently, it will be possible to flesh out the sustainability-oriented policy with concrete solutions. 'The government has got the message,' says Van Gennep, who has meanwhile started to fill in her new role as 'launching customer'. The Front runners believe she will succeed in incorporating this policy into the new coalition agreement. Furthermore, they expect that the availability of funds for innovation will provide a strong stimulus for the transition to sustainable Netherlands.
